Why Ultherapy Prime® Works on the SMAS Layer
Ultherapy Prime® reaches the SMAS, the deep support layer about 4.5 mm under the skin, which no laser or facial can touch.
SMAS stands for superficial musculo-aponeurotic system. It is a thin, fibrous sheet that sits under the fat and over the facial muscles. Think of it as the scaffolding that holds the face and neck in place. It is the same layer a surgeon tightens during a facelift.
With age, the SMAS loosens. That is when the jawline starts to blur and the neck starts to soften. Creams and surface lasers cannot reach it.
